Common Symptoms of Cervical Cancer that Women Shouldn’t Ignore!


According to the latest statistics cervical cancer is one of the most common type of gynecological cancers. Anyway, you shouldn’t be worried because medical expert claims that this type of cancer has a high rates of successful treatment – if it’s detected early.

These seven signs are the most common symptoms of cervical cancer:

1. Abnormal discharge
Abnormal discharge can be indicative of cervical cancer.  When cancer starts to grow in the cervix, the cells located on the uterine wall start to rid, which causes an unusual watery discharge.

2. Appearance of Warts
The appearance of warts (internally and externally) is a warning sign for many diseases, such as: HPV that can increase the likelihood of cervical cancer in women.

3. Bleeding or Pain
Bleeding and pain are typical warning signs for this kind of cancer. This is probably so because cervical cancer develops on the cervix walls which can dry or even crack, leading to bleeding and discomfort. Also there may be bladder or rectal bleeding. This means that if you see any type of bleeding outside the menstrual period, you should immediately consult your doctor get an appropriate treatment.

4. Anemia
Anemia is usually caused by excessive bleeding. So, if you are constantly feeling tired and the eating habits are the same, or if your heart rate speeds up after normal exertion, this means that are probably having anemia symptoms. Like we said, anemia could be caused by excess bleeding, which is often accompanied by cervical cancer.


5. Urinary issues
The appearance of the urine and urinary habits can also be symptoms of cervical cancer. If you notice strange changes in the frequency of your urine, loss of bladder control (incontinence) or a discoloration – especially with blood – seek the input of a medical professional.

6. Constant pain in the back, legs or hips
The swollen cervix can affect the internal organs, kidneys and bladder. Blood vessels can become compressed, making difficult for blood to reach the legs and pelvis, resulting in swelling and pain in the ankles and legs.

7. Weight loss
We all know that all types of cancer suppress and decrease the appetite so cervical cancer is no exception. The swollen cervix can compress your stomach, resulting in decreasing the appetite and causing weight loss.

Note: Stay calm and don’t panic! These sings do not necessarily mean that you are having cervical cancer. That’s why you need to consult your doctor, when you notice some of these symptoms and signs.

These are the risk factors for developing cervical cancer:

• Smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke
• Multiple sexual partners
• Unprotected sex
• Low immunity

Note: since STI is among the most common causes of cervical cancer, it is good to know the symptoms and signs of HPV. And, doing regular checkups such as pap smear can help you discover cervical cancer. Do these checkups once a year.
