The most important thing is to know the symptoms when something’s wrong with us before it’s too late. However, it’s our job to notice those signs and find the right medication.

Cracks in the corners of the mouth

The major causes:

  • Deficiency of  Vitamin B group
  • Stomach disorders can cause increased secretion of gastric acid that corrodes the mucous membranes of the lips
  • Chapped lips caused by dry, very cold / hot weather or possible allergic reaction to some ingredient contained in cosmetic products
  • Anemia caused by iron deficiency
  • Infections caused by bacteria streptococcus and staphylococcus, fungi (mostly candida)

  • Often occurs in people that moisturize the lips with the tongue all the time
  • Due to weakened immune system, caused by diabetes

These symptoms are a sign of lack of vitamins (B 2, B 3 and B 12), zinc and iron.

Solution: Consume foods rich in vitamin B (dairy products, dark green leafy vegetables, fish, meat, legumes, whole wheat, soy products), zinc (spinach, kidney beans, flax seeds, peanuts, egg yolks) and iron (chickpeas, beetroot, spinach).

Vitamin C improves iron absorption, so it’s important to combine foods rich in iron with foods rich in vitamin C.
